It is amusing to watch the furies unleashed in both the White House and the liberal media over former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s citing of the Communist Frank Marshall Davis as an influence on the young Barack Obama. And Giuliani’s insistence that, partly as a direct result of that influence, the president doesn’t “love America the way we do.”
On Sunday, Davis biographer Paul Kengor wrote a terrific piece laying out the history of the Davis-Obama relationship in detail. The full title of Mr. Kengor’s book, notably is The Communist: Frank Marshall Davis: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mentor. As Kengor points out in detail, Rudy was right. But well aside from that is the larger issue of the influence of Communism itself on the modern Democratic Party and its ideas. Far from being the province of supposedly nutty, frothing far-right zealots, this issue was discussed years ago by none other than Ronald Reagan. Continue reading

A wise man once said something about knowing a tree by its fruit, and there are three bitter fruits always harvested by a culture that has allowed Marxism to take root:
- Leaders manipulate the public with outright lies and propaganda far exceeding the normal embellishments typical of politicians.
- Intimidation and bullying of your opposition becomes the norm and self-righteously justified.
- Demagoguery replaces common human decency and situational decorum.
In total, this is known as the “thugocracy,” which is always what Marxism becomes. Here are three recent examples, both blatant and subtle, that indicate ours is a culture that doesn’t have a long shelf life unless we return to our Western ideals. Continue reading

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (Credits: Wikipedia)
Why should you care about the Hegelian Dialectic? How does it affect me? The dialectical philosophy devised by Georg Hegel underpins the entire political and social strategy of the radical left. The dialectical approach to “consensus-building” (compromise) and “conflict resolution” (dialog) is the process with which the radical left attempts to control and manipulate outcomes.
There are several reasons why I felt compelled to write an article on the subject matter of Hegelian dialectics. First, I thought I would take a shot at introducing the subject matter to those who are unfamiliar with it, and why it is relevant to politics today. Secondly, I thought it “prudent at this juncture” to clearly lay out important distinctions between Hegel’s philosophy and that of Marx’s theory of dialectical materialism.
I have been reading and hearing the term “Hegelian Dialectic” bantered around more and more. As a matter of fact, my last article submitted to the The Watcher’s Council, I, once again, brought up the Hegelian dialectic in relationship to our two-party system–the infamous left-right paradigm, as I am wont to call it. But I digress.
Hegelian dialectical theory is simply a philosophy, a way of thinking–a thought process. But when taken to its extreme, and applied by unscrupulous characters, it is a very dangerous and lethal strategy. For it is not a new strategy or idea, but an ancient one. And it takes many forms. Indeed, it can be difficult to expose the strategy, even by those deeply familiar with it, because the agenda is hidden, and the predetermined ends are kept secret by those employing the strategy.
But before we get started exploring Hegelian dialecticalism (author’s own term), let me state clearly: there are entire books written on the subject matter of dialectical philosophy, and on the life of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, the father of the so-called Hegelian Dialectic. I do not consider myself an authority on Hegel. Nor do I consider myself an expert on dialectical philosophy–in all its varied forms. I have simply researched the subject matter in some depth.

NavyAdm. Samuel J. Locklear III delivered an ominous warning this week finally saying what I have been saying for over a year – the Chinese are growing in military might and are growing stronger than the US. Our military superiority is declining due to a lack of funding to modernize our weaponry, the purge of seasoned high-level officers and the gutting of the rank and file.
Obama’s propagandized ‘Asian Pivot’ is being outed by the upper brass. Unfortunately, it may be a case of too little, too late as the dark horse has left the barn by the planned open door policy of our Marxist regime. Three years ago, the Pentagon proclaimed that it was de-emphasizing its presence in Europe in favor of moving the bulk of our might to the Asia-Pacific region. But it hasn’t done much to deter China as they have aggressively modernized and expanded their weapons cache and bulked up their numbers in the military ranks. They are emboldened, due to the obvious weakness of the US and our lack of appetite to confront a major enemy. Instead, choosing diplomacy and the twisted logic of trying to switch from the US as the protector of the world (which it should never have been), to China. Incredibly, it appears Obama wants to put the Chinese communists in charge. But then again, it has been part of his plan all along. Saying ‘I told you so’ this time is a bitch.
To America’s Founders and the Sons of Liberty, who won our freedom; and to Saul Alinsky, whose rules we expropriate to win it back.
RULE 1: FREEDOM WORKS
What follows is for those who want to set America on a path toward liberty, and who understand that freedom works.
Few of our elected political leaders or bureaucrats give this simple axiom more than a brief thought. “Freedom works” – but what does the phrase actually mean?
When we understand that freedom works, we understand why it is such a dangerous idea, a revolutionary idea, an idea so many tyrants throughout the history of the world have worked to destroy, an idea so many organizations today labor to eliminate.
Freedom works as an organizational principle. It means that by giving people the freedom to strive and equal opportunity to succeed to the best of their own abilities, to risk what they will toward a goal they believe in, we achieve great things as a nation and a people.
There is always, of course, the other path—letting elitist leaders with plans control every aspect of our life, as if they know what’s best for us. But accepting a top-down imposition of equality of outcomes never works. The ends are never truly equal, corruption and vice are inevitable. The best laid plans of the elites are so out of touch with the aims of the people, eventually the economy and the government collapses.
This is what happens when there are people in power who you wouldn’t trust to watch your dog or manage a cash register being given responsibility over your life savings and trillion-dollar budgets.
There are some well-meaning people who deny freedom because they don’t trust people’s abilities to make choices for themselves. But the true enemy of freedom is the radical or the tyrant—people in love with power who always deny freedom, not because they think it doesn’t work, but because they know it works. A free world simply is not the world they want to see.
We saw this clash of ideals clearly during the Cold War, but this is a much older battle than that, dating back through centuries of human struggle over the rights of humankind. As in so many areas, America’s Founders understood far more than what we could have guessed. They knew that when we choose freedom, we choose a better future and a better life for ourselves and our children than any centralized government could ever achieve.
As he studied America in the early 1800s, Alexis de Tocqueville saw free citizens waking up to what they could achieve in a nation where freedom thrived. He wrote about how “countless little people, humble people, throughout American society, expend their efforts in caring and in the betterment of the community, blowing on their hands, pitting their small strength against the inhuman elements of life. Unheralded and always inconspicuous, they sense that they are cooperating with a purpose and a spirit that is at the center of creation. The Constitution of their nation undergirds and strengthens this activity.”
De Tocqueville’s description from two hundred years ago might well have been written about what we call the Tea Party movement, Freedom movement, or Liberty movement today. We are making ourselves heard as the unheralded community of hard-working, dedicated, honest people at the heart of a nation founded on liberty and opportunity. We are standing up in defense of the Constitutional values that made the America we love possible. And no matter what the Washington elites do to try and stop us, we will not be silenced.
Our message is clear: freedom works.

Despite escalating political opposition and the lack of legal jurisdiction, the full European Parliament is set to vote on a resolution declaring abortion and mandatory sexual education for children to be “human rights,” while launching an undisguised attack on the conscientious-objection rights of medical professionals.
The deeply controversial “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights” measure, backed by powerful Socialist Party forces and Planned Parenthood, has already been approved in committee.
However, critics of the resolution are attacking it on multiple fronts – legal, ethical, human rights centered, pragmatic and more – and opposition is growing fast as pro-life and pro-family forces rally against it.
Among other points, opponents say the concept of human rights would be turned upside-down by defining the killing of another human being as a “right.”
Separately, legal experts and human rights attorneys say it represents an assault on national sovereignty – and especially on pro-life EU nations like Poland, Ireland and Malta that have stood firm against the legalization of abortion. All three of those countries are specifically singled out for criticism in the resolution.
The EU, however, as the text of the measure itself admits, does not have the lawful authority to formulate and implement policies on the issues involved. Those powers are reserved to national governments.
Experts agree. “The European Union has absolutely no legal competency to legislate on the issue of abortion,” senior European counsel Roger Kiska with the Alliance Defending Freedom, or ADF, told WND.
“The European Parliament’s proposed resolution is an affront to national sovereignty, a breach of their duty to the citizens of the European Union and worst of all an unsolicited attack on innocent human life,” Kiska added.
Director Grégor Puppinck of the European Centre for Law and Justice, or ECLJ, also blasted the measure from numerous angles.
The notion that abortion on demand could be declared a human right, he told WND, flies in the face of the facts. In reality, it is a “clear” violation of real human rights.
Pro-life and pro-family organizations are on the rise, he said, but pro-abortion forces are still strong within government institutions and the European Parliament.
“This resolution is a ‘blitzkrieg’ – the pro-abortion and LBGT [Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Trasgender] lobbies united to pass all their claims in one text,” Puppinck explained, highlighting the broad scope of the measure in terms of abortion and more.
As WND reported earlier this year, the battle over the rights of unborn children is raging across Europe, and it is far from finished. This resolution represents only the latest front.
Glenn Beck has been growing more and more frustrated with the “establishment GOP hacks,” and on Thursday he unloaded on them for trying to destroy the tea party by sharing a personal anecdote about a literal coup that happened at the conservative group FreedomWorks that he helped bring to an end…
Beck charged that any Republican member of Congress who allies with tea party groups like FreedomWorks “is being targeted by the same class of establishment Republican progressives” like Karl Rove who lost big-time in 2012 with their hand-picked candidates. Beck said, “I don’t want another Lindsey Graham, I don’t want another Mitt Romney, I don’t want another lesser of two evils.”
He warned that so long as establishment-types continue to run the show, “conservatives and America will keep losing,” and predicted that in the future, people like Ted Cruz will “be the most beloved members of the new Republican party or whatever it’s called, because the old one is going to go the way of the dinosaur.”

That is, he presented much more than we already knew, to those who were already awake, aware, alarmed, and looking for more. And we have all continued to tell those who have not been willfully, unrepentantly, and fatally ignorant. This article also introduced to many the very old, Marxist and fascist (some would say Illuminist and Jacobin) strategy of collapsing a nation’s economy through government obligations and debt, recently reprised as the “Cloward-Piven strategy.”
Whether reviewing or reading for the first time, we have an opportunity to checkpoint. How have we been doing in our learning and in our informing America, despite the controlled media complex, over the last five years?
America waits with bated breath while Washington struggles to bring the U.S. economy back from the brink of disaster. But many of those same politicians caused the crisis, and if left to their own devices will do so again.
Despite the mass media news blackout, a series of books, talk radio and the blogosphere have managed to expose Barack Obama’s connections to his radical mentors — Weather Underground bombers William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis and others. David Horowitz and his Discover the Networks.org have also contributed a wealth of information and have noted Obama’s radical connections since the beginning.
Yet, no one to my knowledge has yet connected all the dots between Barack Obama and the Radical Left. When seen together, the influences on Obama’s life comprise a who’s who of the radical leftist movement, and it becomes painfully apparent that not only is Obama a willing participant in that movement, he has spent most of his adult life deeply immersed in it.
But even this doesn’t fully describe the extreme nature of this candidate. He can be tied directly to a malevolent overarching strategy that has motivated many, if not all, of the most destructive radical leftist organizations in the United States since the 1960s.

“It was a glorious morning. The sun was shining and the wind was from the Southeast. Up especially early, a tall bony, redheaded young Virginian found time to buy a new thermometer, for which he paid three pounds, fifteen shillings. He also bought gloves for Martha, his wife, who was ill at home.
“Thomas Jefferson arrived early at the statehouse. The temperature was 72.5 degrees and the horseflies weren’t nearly so bad at that hour. It was a lovely room, very large, with gleaming white walls. The chairs were comfortable. Facing the single door were two brass fireplaces, but they would not be used today.
The moment the door was shut, and it was always kept locked, the room became an oven. The tall windows were shut, so that loud quarreling voices could not be heard by passersby. Small openings atop the windows allowed a slight stir of air, and also a large number of horseflies.
Jefferson records that “the horseflies were dexterous in finding necks, and the silk of stockings was nothing to them.” All discussing was punctuated by the slap of hands on necks.
On the wall at the back, facing the president’s desk, was a panoply – consisting of a drum, swords, and banners seized from Fort Ticonderoga the previous year. Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold had captured the place, shouting that they were taking it “in the name of the Great Jehovah and the Continental Congress!”
Now Congress got to work, promptly taking up an emergency measure about which there was discussion but no dissension. “Resolved: That an application be made to the Committee of Safety of Pennsylvania for a supply of flints for the troops at New York.”
GatewayPundit previously reported here and here on Common Core promoting pornography in the classroom. Another recent report comes to light from an outraged Louisiana parent of a fourth grader who was helping her 9-year-old son with a Common Core homework reading assignment.
Todd Starnes at Fox News reports the following:
Fourth grade students in Vermilion Parish, La. were given a homework assignment that included words like “Po Pimp” and “mobstaz,” but school officials said the worksheet was age appropriate based on an education website affiliated with Common Core education standards.
“I try to instill values in my son,” parent Brittney Badeaux told Fox News. “My goal is for him to ultimately to become a great man, a family man, a well-rounded man. And now my son wants to know what a pimp is.”
Badeaux was helping her 9-year-old son with his homework when she heard him say the words “Po Pimp” and “mobstaz.”
“I couldn’t believe it at first – hearing him read it to me,” she told Fox News. “So I looked at the paper and read the entire article. It was filled with Ebonics.”
The worksheet, obtained by Fox Radio affiliate KPEL provided contextual examples of the word “twist.” It included references to tornadoes and the 1950’s dance craze – the “Twist.”
But it also included a paragraph about “Twista” – a rapper with the group Speedknot Mobstaz who performs a single titled, “Po-Pimp.”
“It was really inappropriate for my child,” Badeaux said. “He doesn’t know what a pimp or mobster is.”
She also took issue with the school sending home a worksheet that intentionally misspelled words.
“I try to teach him morals and respect and to speak correctly,” she said. “It’s hard for a fourth grader to understand Ebonics when you’re trying to teach him how to spell and write correctly.”
Vermilion Parish School Superintendent Jerome Puyau told Fox News the “po-pimp” assignment was aligned to a fourth grade English Language Arts standard for Common Core.
“Out of context, this word is inappropriate,” Puyau said. “However, within the Common Core standards, they do want us to discuss real world texts.” […]

A Rethinking Schools article on the trouble with Common Core reminds us of the following:
States were coerced into adopting the Common Core by requirements attached to the federal Race to the Top grants and, later, the No Child Left Behind waivers. (This is one reason many conservative groups opposed to any federal role in education policy oppose the Common Core.)
If time permits, Karen Bracken gives an excellent presentation on the subversive Common Core threat to education at a
Chattanooga Tea Party meeting held on April 18, 2013: A must watch for Parents.
