A wise man once said something about knowing a tree by its fruit, and there are three bitter fruits always harvested by a culture that has allowed Marxism to take root:
- Leaders manipulate the public with outright lies and propaganda far exceeding the normal embellishments typical of politicians.
- Intimidation and bullying of your opposition becomes the norm and self-righteously justified.
- Demagoguery replaces common human decency and situational decorum.
In total, this is known as the “thugocracy,” which is always what Marxism becomes. Here are three recent examples, both blatant and subtle, that indicate ours is a culture that doesn’t have a long shelf life unless we return to our Western ideals. Continue reading

The following is the transcript of a speech given by Democratic Governor of New York Alfred E. Smith in Washington, D.C., in 1936. This speech is Appendix A (I’ve also included Appendix B from the same book) from Cleon Skousen’s book The Naked Capitalist (1970), which is a review and commentary of Dr. Carroll Quigly’s 1,300 page book Tragedy and Hope. Interestingly, Carroll Quigly was one of former President Bill Clinton’s mentors.
There are few things worth noting about Alfred E. Smith’s speech. The reference to the NRA in Smith’s speech is not a reference to the National Rifle Association, but rather the National Recovery Administration established by FDR. Additionally, the term Brain Trusters refers to the group of advisers to Franklin Delano Roosevelt during his presidential administration.
To me, it just shows that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The influence of socialism, communism, and other nefarious forces, is nothing new in the history of the United States.

That is, he presented much more than we already knew, to those who were already awake, aware, alarmed, and looking for more. And we have all continued to tell those who have not been willfully, unrepentantly, and fatally ignorant. This article also introduced to many the very old, Marxist and fascist (some would say Illuminist and Jacobin) strategy of collapsing a nation’s economy through government obligations and debt, recently reprised as the “Cloward-Piven strategy.”
Whether reviewing or reading for the first time, we have an opportunity to checkpoint. How have we been doing in our learning and in our informing America, despite the controlled media complex, over the last five years?
America waits with bated breath while Washington struggles to bring the U.S. economy back from the brink of disaster. But many of those same politicians caused the crisis, and if left to their own devices will do so again.
Despite the mass media news blackout, a series of books, talk radio and the blogosphere have managed to expose Barack Obama’s connections to his radical mentors — Weather Underground bombers William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis and others. David Horowitz and his Discover the Networks.org have also contributed a wealth of information and have noted Obama’s radical connections since the beginning.
Yet, no one to my knowledge has yet connected all the dots between Barack Obama and the Radical Left. When seen together, the influences on Obama’s life comprise a who’s who of the radical leftist movement, and it becomes painfully apparent that not only is Obama a willing participant in that movement, he has spent most of his adult life deeply immersed in it.
But even this doesn’t fully describe the extreme nature of this candidate. He can be tied directly to a malevolent overarching strategy that has motivated many, if not all, of the most destructive radical leftist organizations in the United States since the 1960s.

To bring about radical and permanent change in any society, our primary focus must be on the conversion of minds through education.
— Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul
Somebody needs to say this.
Does Ron Paul have a lot of interesting ideas he puts forward as a presidential candidate?
Yes. From his honestly libertarian views (he was the 1988 Libertarian presidential nominee, so he’s been at this a long time) to his willingness to challenge the status quo on economics (questioning the role of everything from sugar subsidies to the Federal Reserve) to his emphasis on the Constitution and the Founding Fathers, Congressman Paul has been fearless in sticking with his principles. And in bringing new ideas — or old ideas — to an American electorate that has been staggered by the far-left reality that is the Obama Administration.
But as complaints surface in the wake of his strong showing in the Iowa Straw Poll, complaints from Paul supporters and candidate Paul himself that he is not receiving the attention that is his due — someone should say the Congressman and his supporters are correct. There should be — must be — more attention paid to the Paul campaign.

As Matt Patterson pointed out in these pages,Obama is the Affirmative Action President. He was elected to make up for America’s never-ending guilt about black folks. That obsessional guilt trip works so well that it’s landed us in racial socialism, also called affirmative action.
Marxism whips up resentments of the poor against the rich — but in fact it empowers only the left. Well, racial socialism does the same thing. It whips up “people of color” against evil palefaces in order to empower the left. It’s the Ku Klux Klan in new sheets.
